I am a graduate student at University of Maryland, College Park, in Dept. of Computer Science. My research interests are Cyber-physical systems (CPSs), Embedded systems, and Pervasive & Intelligent systems. I received Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Seoul National University in Feb. 2015. In my undergraduate years, I carried out several projects with LG Electronics Inc. (LGE) for two years while working at MBridge Systems Inc. as a lead researcher. In addition, as a Chief Technology Officer and Co-founder of Openwise Inc., I conducted and supervised several research projects carried out with Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. (SEC) for another two years. Unfortunately, I cannot state the research projects carried out with SEC in this webpage because it's confidential.
Cyber-physical systems (CPSs) couple the cyber physical aspects of computing and communications tightly with the dynamics and physics of physical systems operating in the world around us. This intimate coupling will enable revolutionary changes in the people's lives in the future. In order to harness advantages from the changes, CPSs of the future would have to be trans-hardware, pervasive, and intelligent. My research, therefore, focuses on the virtualization of CPSs, which overcomes local hardware constraints with their scalable and highly available computing capabilities. In addition, I am interested in improving the characteristics of CPSs used in pervasive environments, which increases dependability of the systems. Moreover, in relation to the two topics above, I would like to create intelligent CPSs, which predicts availability of hardware resources in systems during an operation.
